FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a foreigner buy property in Italy?

In most cases yes. EU citizens can buy freely; for many non-EU countries purchases are allowed on the basis of reciprocity agreements. Your notary will confirm your specific situation.

Do I need to be in Italy to buy?

Not necessarily. Viewings can start by video call, and for the notary deed you can attend in person or ask your notary about signing through a power of attorney.

What do I need to buy a property in Italy?

An Italian tax code (codice fiscale), a valid ID and, usually, an Italian bank account for the payment. A notary handles the deed and its registration.

Which taxes apply when buying?

Purchase taxes depend on the seller (private or company) and on whether the home is your main residence. Ask your notary for an exact calculation before signing.

Can you manage the apartment if I want to rent it out?

Yes. Through LV Rooms we can take care of tenants, contracts and maintenance. We will explain how it works and the terms when you contact us.
